Frequently asked questions

Do I need a contract before applying for D1?

You must provide a contract, a promise of a contract or other legally accepted evidence for the specific route. An employer's informal intention may not be enough.

Is the D1 visa the residence card?

No: the visa allows entry and an application for residence under the applicable rules. AIMA decides on the residence permit.

Can I change employer afterwards?

The law requires changes to be reported in certain cases. Before changing, check your permit and any duty to notify AIMA.
